View Article  MySpace.com - a place for friends

“Danger, danger, Will Robinson!

That is what the robot (from my childhood television years) would say today about kids posting their personal information at www.myspace.com.  I recently had a parent show me their kid’s “myspace” area.  It was quite revealing.    Unfortunately, students often do not perceive the danger they place themselves and others in when they post pictures and text.  If you’d like to find someone, just start with the city they live in.  Eventually you’ll be able to follow the bread-crumbs of friends to people you know.

Students need to be informed about the dangers and ways to protect themselves on these ...   more »

View Article  Why Wikipedia is the next BIG thing
Mitch Kapor explained why he thinks Wikipedia is the next big thing. He first deconstructed the online encyclopedia, which is one of the top 20 Web sites, and punctured holes in myths, such as “someone has to be in charge of things or they don’t work.” 'It's a no brainer to apply to other tasks.' In fact, a recent study showed that Wikipedia is just as accurate as the Encyclopedia Britannica   more »

View Article  Treo Smartphone: My Favorite Websites

There has been an explosion of interest in the Treo smarphones.  I personally own a Treo 650.  I am able to email, blog, fax (send/receive), surf the internet, print, use bluetooth, listen to music, take pictures, and… well the list goes on an on.  I primarily use two websites to learn how to use these incredible little devices.  The price is becoming more affordable and with the Treo 700w becoming available the temptation becomes almost irresitable.
